As my students thirst for creative opportunities in my design classes, technological tools like iPads help them in a variety of ways. They are a not only a device waiting for students to search for ideas, but they allow me to upload tutorials and play interactive games with my students. If I were able to get more iPads, I'd love to download programs like Procreate. I would specifically use tablet programs like this for some creative assignments. With the additional use of the Apple Pencil and programs like Procreate, students have a tablet with endless creative possibilities. Another profound bonus is these resources are an industry standard and give students real world design career application.
I want my design students to have as much real world career application as possible. And for students to also have a class where they can feel creative and empowered is an infinite bonus. Covid-19 has robbed my students of a lot of normalcy in their academics. But to foster a creative, technology-rich environment as they are back face to face is one of my greatest honors as an educator.
