More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education.
These resources will give students many exciting choices of things to read. The books chosen for our library will be engaging and help the students learn about themselves and the world. A child who reads can escape from the real world a bit, can learn to deal with his or her challenges through the characters, and grows in their vocabulary and their knowledge of the world. This not only helps them socially and emotionally, but academically as well. Many of my students do not have books in their homes, so they were not reading when things got shut down. This will help them to see the fun and joy that come from reading a book. Today's readers are truly tomorrow's leaders.
