Students feel withdrawn and isolated having returned from quarantine. They have come back to the classroom but won't engage. They rarely speak or engage in lessons. It's as if they are still alone.
I want to help my students get back in the communal spirit by making our classroom feel more like theatre themselves. One bonus of attending a theatre is the shared experience. And using the 5 senses can help bring the human experience back to my students. The smell of popcorn, the ambiance of fog during halloween, the sound of fizzy sodas, can all engage the senses.
Through popcorn, snacks, and other treats, I believe my students can feel more comfortable coming back to a group setting. Treats will also increase the "want" to be in school and incentivize learning and sharing with a group.
