The students can see that they can solve a difficult puzzle using proper steps which can help build problem solving skills and improve analytical skills. Learning to solve a Rubik's cube can also develop spatial awareness skills and motor skills. With this day and age of kids transfixed on their phones and computers, it is a good opportunity for students to be kids and play with a hands-on, fun, mind boggling, stress relieving puzzle like the Rubik's cube.
