I firmly believe that all of the items in my cart will help my classroom become an even better learning environment. My students have spent the past few years dealing with the effects of Covid-19 which has distracted them from their learning and even hindered the positive feelings they have towards school. With these items I will be able to excite my students in their learning and bring back more positive feelings of being in school. When I was in 5th Grade, I vividly remember reading "The Westing Game," which is why I am requesting a classroom set because it is an experience I would love to share with my students, as it was the highlight of my own 5th grade year. This book is so fun, engaging, keeps the kids guessing and also teaches great comprehension skills such as predicting, foreshadowing, order of event, character traits and much more. By having more whiteboard space, I will be able to leave up necessary information for students to refer back to when needed. It will also save on the time I spend during class erasing the white board in order to move on to the next subject quicker, making transitions smoother. The other miscellaneous items on my list will be used to teach lessons in social studies, STEM, life science and much more.
