Students enjoy choice and voice when practicing reading and writing skills in English class. One way to engage and entice students is through the use of highly organized "Book Clubs." "The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise" is a highly engaging novel following the life of a young teen coming to grips with the trauma of losing her mom and sisters in a terrible accident. By combining this novel choice with three other "Coming of Age" novel selections, students will have the opportunity to share, discuss, and write about strategies we all use in overcoming unexpected hardship (like COVID).
