Due to the pandemic, many first-grade students have come into first grade with learning gaps. We are working really hard to get the children back on track and to become motivated, independent readers. My first-grade students absolutely love non-fiction books. Many of my non-fiction books are worn, outdated, or were lost during remote learning.
I want to give my students a robust selection of high-interest books to help them grow as readers. We will use these books for a variety of reading activities in the classroom, and I will also select books for each student at their independent reading level to take home each night for practice. Having these these exciting and engaging books readily available will have a huge impact on my students' reading progression.
