In light of COVID-19, my students have gaps in both their academic and social-emotional learning. In order to meet their needs, these funds will promote literacy within my classroom. These literacy resources will allow me to increase language arts performance while also meeting the diverse socioemotional needs of my class.
These reading resources will allow students to excel and exceed their literacy goals. Students will have access to a variety of engaging reading materials such as book sets and Scholastic articles. These materials will more accurately fit their ability levels, allowing them to improve their comprehension and fluency. Line readers and stuffed animal "reading buddies" will be useful resources. Lastly, each student will have a computer mouse which will aid them when using reading intervention programs such as Lexia.
These books will offer representation to my diverse classroom. Students will be able to relate to a variety of characters through engaging stories. Through literature, students learn invaluable life lessons. These lessons will transfer into my classroom, helping me better meet the social-emotional needs of my students. In all, my students will be able to succeed academically in an inclusive, supportive classroom.
