I believe that EVERY child is a reader. By the time I see them in middle school, many of them have tricked themselves into believing that they can't read, they're not good at it or it is boring. I believe that this is simply because they have not been given the right book yet. Because so many of my students are reluctant readers, we need to have an updated classroom library with current titles and topics that will motivate them. Graphic novels are the perfect Gateway into literature for struggling readers.
