The first way I am going use this iPad is to change the way that I teach and the way that most teachers teach. Too often, as a math teacher, I am stuck in one place, whether it up at the front of the board or in a seat projecting up to the board, we are not among out students teaching. Having this project happen will help me in deploying a new way of teaching. I would like to teach while walking among my students. I would also mirror form the iPad to the board and teach while being around my students.
I feel it will help in keeping students on task and paying attention better, it will allow for me to see if they are understanding it better, and it will be a good change of pace for me as an educator. Math can be a very mundane at times. Teaching it while walking around the room can make it more exciting for my students, and quite frankly for myself as well. A frustrating thing about teaching is having to go back and forth to the computer to change screens, show a video from YouTube, or find files that I need to show my students. Having this project be funded will save us a lot of time, because it will all be in front of me on the iPad. It will give me more time to spend on the students that I teach.
