Play in speech and language therapy is a natural way for children to learn and develop their skills. Through play, they can learn how to implement their newly acquired skills into their everyday language. Due to COVID children have not had the opportunity to socialize and develop their language skills by playing with their peers, due to their required isolation at home they spent many hours away from many of their peers and not in a classroom setting. I encourage my students to work together to problem solve and develop their language skills. Through play I can create a language rich environment, giving them many opportunities to learn with their peers.
