With the pandemic affecting all students the past 3 years, teachers are aware of the significant gaps in their students' education. Students who are in quarantine or affected by the Coronavirus are losing weeks' worth of vital fundamental building blocks, which they need for a successful education. Students who have missed weeks of school due to the Corona Virus feel immense pressure and extreme anxiety when returning to the classroom. Students are afraid to enter the classroom for several reasons. For example, they feel they are too far behind and want to give up, or they worry that they might bring the virus home. My goal for this project is to create a learning environment that will help ease my students back into the classroom and take some of the worries off their plates. With the flexible seating options and clipboards, my students will be able to select a spot in the classroom that feels safe to them, while still being able to write comfortably. They can also use flexible seating to space themselves apart from other students, as proper social distancing can be difficult in a classroom full of students and desks. The headphones can be used to help students get caught up on their missing assignments during class when there are texts to listen to or videos to watch. They can help ease anxiety by providing a noise block, or by providing the student with the choice to listen to soft music while they work. These tools will help ensure students that they can comfortably return to class and succeed in their education.
