Many of the students in my classroom enjoy books. When we read stories that are high-quality with rich vocabulary, the children are able to increase their word banks and learn to recognize and produce details in their own thought process. It is a huge benefit to helping them reach their full potential. It is important that they are comfortable and able to concentrate on the story.
High quality picture books and a comfortable rug will provide my students with rich experiences and background knowledge. Because of Covid-19 and the low socioeconomic status of many of my students they haven't been exposed to unique, engaging experiences in their lives. Books are the perfect way to help bridge the gap for these young minds.
