Many of my exceptional students have learning disabilities that impact the way and rate they learn. Using a variety of supplies will enable students to respond in their unique way. I want my classroom to be colorful, fun, and exciting, and these tools will help me accomplish just that.
Using items such as coloring supplies, markers, and mini magic boards will give students different ways to respond during lessons. For example, during a lesson on fractions, students will be able to use the coloring supplies to make their own fractions so they have a concrete representation.
About 25% of my student population have ADHD so items like the wobble cushions and the desk partitions will make focusing more accessible for them.
It is important to me and my students that they get "brain breaks" and sensory time. Items like the fake snow and sidewalk chalk will give students time to decompress and enjoy a creative and fun activity inside or out.
As a special education teacher, the organization is critical! Some of these items will organize and store confidential student files. The filing cabinet and folders will be useful to store these student files. The engraving tip will allow me to engrave items with class numbers to keep things organized, tidy, and accounted for.
COVID-19 has made it evident that we all need just a little more help getting the job done.
