Flexible seating allows students to learn and grow in ways that support their needs. This year, I have been blessed with a diverse classroom. I have a combination of level 3 and level 1 special education students, students with behavioral needs, and gifted students. This diverse group has taught me the importance of creating an inclusive classroom that supports the unique individual needs of my students.
Flexible seating will give my students a choice and will allow them to take charge of their learning. My students will have the option to spread around the classroom during independent work. They will get to choose a place where they feel comfortable and safe to learn. In addition to this, my level 3 special education students will be able to take a break from their wheelchairs and have a safe place to engage with their peers. Flexible seating will allow me, a first year teacher, to give my students the tools they need to be successful.
