My students are fun-loving, witty, energetic, hard-working, and social. They love to collaborate with their peers on projects and assignments. However, the social-distancing, distance learning, quarantine protocols, and lost instructional time that continues to accompany Covid-19 have forced me to be very creative regarding the ways that I can use my limited number of available math manipulatives and science tools.
The Covid-19 pandemic has created gaps in the knowledge base of many of my students. These gaps are evident in math and language arts. Hands-on instructional resources will make my classroom instruction more accessible to all of my students and their variety of learning styles. Magnetic fraction tiles and whiteboards will make learning equivalent fractions a more-approachable task! Multiplication “Pop-Its” will make learning our math facts fun! Hands on science tools will help me to make the Utah Science Core Standards come alive! Alternative seating options will help many of my “little wigglers” focus during independent work! All of my requested materials will be used to make my instruction relevant and more-effective!
