Storytelling is exciting and relatable for students. One element used to tell stories is the use of properties (play props). With no limits to what students can design and create, they will be inspired to create something new and present it. All while having fun, students will be reading, designing, creating, problem-solving, collaborating, and presenting. Without even knowing it, they will be learning valuable skills across all disciplines. In the meantime, they will think they are just creating things to “play” with. Students’ best memories come from extracurricular elements of school. By participating in the drama department, they will re-ignite that spark of creation that dimmed when Covid hit the performance industry so devastatingly. This is turn will pull them away from social media and video games that consumed so much of their time in quarantine. It will wake up their brains with excitement and fun and give them another great reason to participate and come to school.
