Children learn through play and exploration of the world around them. Typically developing children usually learn these play skills naturally. However, children with Autism frequently struggle with social skills such as knowing how to play appropriately with toys and materials.
This project will provide instructional materials and toys to help the children in my class be able to learn these vital prerequisite skills so they are more able to access the general education curriculum.
These culturally diverse books and toys as well as STEAM equipment will enable my team to more effectively teach the students how to explore and use open ended materials to facilitate their own learning.
