The books I have requested will be placed in our classroom library for all to enjoy. My students know that when they have a spare moment, they are to pick up a book, and enjoy that book. They know that any reading they do opens their eyes to the world around them. They are so excited about any new book that is added to our library, and they value each and every one. In our classroom we talk about how books are treasures that need to be appreciated and cared for. Currently, the books in our classroom are about 10 years old, and are in pretty bad shape. The covers have been repaired, and pages have been taped back many times over. Those books are still appreciated, but new books would be a dream! I have also requested class subscriptions to both Scholastic News magazine and Science Spin magazine. These magazines are colorful and full of great articles that my students will love to read and discuss.
