The requested resources will allow my classroom to create a business selling popcorn. By creating a classroom business, we will develop a multitude of skills the students will be able to build upon as they move up to high school and eventually post high. We will develop skills in marketing, finance, hygiene, cleaning, inventory management, customer service, money management, food preparation, and food handling.
We are beginning to see that the incidence of depression, anxiety, isolation, and loneliness are spiking in our children after the significant loss of classroom instruction time as well as social engagement with peers. These resources will not only help my students to develop self-esteem and learn valuable social and life skills to help them engage with others around them, but these resources will provide my students (and all of the students, faculty, and staff at my school) with opportunities to engage in social interaction and engagement with one another in a creative setting not directly tied to the classroom but still closely engaged with the educational development of all involved.
