Our school has a program for accelerated learners that introduces them to many cultures and experiences throughout the world. We struggle to meet the requirements of the program in literature. I would really like to be able to provide many perspectives on the world. Because our area lacks diversity, this project will help expose and educate my students about customs and perspectives from around the world. The books will give them an opportunity to read about children who are different from them, and will hopefully give them understanding and tolerance for many people around the world. I included books that will appeal to all reading levels in my classroom in hopes that all of my students will be able to find characters that they identify with and love, and that they will learn to love reading as well. I'm so excited about this project!
