I have opted for a flexible seating arrangement in my classroom. It gives students the freedom to choose what works best for them. It makes students want to be here because they have some autonomy.
With flexible seating comes the need to be organized so the room doesn't become chaotic, causing a negative impact on the learning environment. So along with the seating options I use magazine organizers so they can take their materials wherever they need to. It also limits their materials, preparing them for the upper grades where they will have to be more responsible with the materials they have/use.
