For many of my students, "seeing" is not enough to learn new skills. This is where sensory tools come into play and allow my students the ability to feel, touch, hear and learn through all their senses. In addition, these tools are a gateway to support academic skills that they need to catch up on in light of breaks in their education. Some of my kids become easily overwhelmed from a busy classroom and need access to materials or spaces, such as sensory mats, the changing light center or a beanbag seat, to provide them with needed input to allow them to self regulate and continue to learn.
My students thrive when they are able to learn through their senses! And when they are served, all benefit!
