As a School Counselor, "All are Welcome Here" is a philosophy that I live by. I pride myself in creating a safe environment for all my students. When they come to my office they are seeking solace which I am able to provide through emotional and social support.
These resources will be utilized to help children practice crucial life skills with me, their teacher, and each other. While working with high need students I have found board games to be essential to practice the skills I'm teaching, build relationships, and create a safe place where children are free to speak and be heard.
Not only are board games fun but they can be a crucial tool to help anxious children calm down and reintegrate into the classroom. It also allows me to develop trusting relationships with children who are often untrusting. In addition, these tools will give me the opportunity to integrate fun into the process of healing and finding peace in our currently stressful world.
Each resource will be utilized to help socialize, reinforce, motivate, teach and encourage students to thrive.
