All students like to listen to a good read aloud! By reading to students you are able to talk about social emotional topics, they can learn about history, they can just sit back and laugh and enjoy the moment of reading together.
When you read to students you are also modeling what a good reader looks and sounds like. The students need this example because so much happens during a good read aloud, like asking questions while reading, making inferences, predicting, and summarizing a story. When you do this as a teacher the students are learning what a reader should be doing while reading.
