Our students need time for movement and music. My students love making noise and using their hands to create sounds. Music will help them use these skills to further develop rhythm and gross motor skills. Rhythm also helps students develop good fluency in reading because many stories flow with their own rhythm. It is helpful for students to learn to recognize differing notes and sounds through music. Learning to count in music can increase their math skills and number awareness. Using the boomwhackers and bells will help them learn to use rhythm and notes to make music. It will also help them learn to work as a group to create songs and follow instructions as they learn their part in the song.
The rhythm scarves will help develop better gross motor movements through music and movement. In our K-2 school, we see many students still struggling with gross motor skills, rhythm, and sound recognition. Please, help our students strengthen these skills with the use of music and musical tools.
