We do book clubs in my classroom once a week. Students are separated into groups, about 6 students per group. Each group has a different book they read together and they discuss how the text relates to themselves or other situations they see in the world.
We are lacking multicultural books. My students would love to see their own culture portrayed in a book and get to discuss the similarities and differences with their classmates. It would bring them joy to know they are heard and seen. It would also give their classmates a wider view of the world and others.
