As a Singer-Songwriter music school graduate who is now teaching in public school, I know the likely reason any student who wishes to pursue a career in music won't succeed is a lack of understanding in music business. Though the music industry has historically relied on the talents of people within the younger demographic, music business is usually not taught until college and is not a required course to graduate. I find it disheartening as an educator to actively encourage children to pursue a career without prior music industry knowledge.
