These materials will make a difference in my students' learning because as an educator I believe I have the responsibility not just to teach but be a facilitator in their discovery to learning. In order to do that I must differentiate my instruction to create success in each individual's learning journey. The manipulatives will help me facilitate my students' discovery as we learn about percentages and students can color 22 blocks out of 100 blocks to see that if they had 22 out of 100 the percent would be 22 percent. It would also be able to make an abstract connection when my students are practicing graphing a linear equation and are able to work on the geoboards and define the y-intercept with a dot and plot by rising and running then making a right triangle with their rubber bands to help them more easily count the rise and the run and identify as slope. The angles would help my students see abstractly angles and when manipulated what happens. The algebra scale would help my students see when solving one or two-step equations I must keep my scale equal by doing the same thing to both sides. The whiteboards help my students take their thinking to their hands when they practice graphing and help students engage because they enjoy using whiteboards. All these manipulatives will help me reach each learner in my classroom in different ways and give them the best chance at being successful in their discoveries of learning.
