I am starting a new reading program that focuses on teaching children to love reading. The curriculum focuses on one fiction book and one non-fiction book each week. Each book teaches about a social/emotional topic. There are grammar, phonics, writing, art, science, and comprehension activities that engage the students as we study the books. Students use Chromebooks to listen to the story as they read along. The charging station will allow students to be organized and care for their Chromebooks. They will be able to sit in flexible seating to allow them to feel comfortable and in charge of their surroundings. They will be storing their best writing in a binder to form a book. They highlight as they study the literature and find things in their text. They will also be using the magnetic letters and white board to dissect words into phonemes, syllables, vowel teams, blends, and digraphs. I know that these materials will help my students be engaged in their learning and will be enjoyed. They will be excited to read and to dive into each book.
