Student will be able to check out books from the class set to take home for reading. We will be able to have discussions on virtual days. Reading the same book helps students have something in common they can talk about. Seeing others, in books, go through adversity and come out on the other side can inspire students to know that not all bad things last forever and we can make something positive out of it. Books also help students increase vocabulary and when paired with a speech language pathologist, me, help students expand other language and social skills. Games will be used in the classroom when we are together. Games help kids be kids while connecting to others. Many of the students have been isolated during the pandemic and are struggling socially and emotionally. These items will provide an opportunity form them to identify common ground with peers which can create friendships and get to know each other in a more naturalistic way.
