Reading incentives will help students be more engaged in the process of wanting to read every day. Battle of the Books is a program we do at our school. Reading all 20 books on the list will help both the individual and the team become lifelong readers and learners. Anytime you can reward a student for academic reasons is a win-win situation. Student learning is important. It all starts with reading and feeling good about what they have accomplished. Getting all of our students reading on grade level is the goal. The Headphones will be used along with Chromebooks and IPads in our "Listening Center." The students can scan a QR code and listen/read hundreds of books that are downloaded on each device. Mercer Meyer is my favorite author. The text is simple with a great message. I want students to be able to earn books as they reach their goal. Helping them reach their goal by giving them a small incentive goes a long way. Because of COVID-19 are students are behind in a lot of ways, both social-emotionally and academically. By making reading fun and engaging I hope to help bridge some of these gaps that all students are facing right now!
