In a classroom with 25 nine and ten year-old students, there is barely a dull moment! With 80% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch, our students come to school hungry for food and hungry to learn. My students LOVE to read. Every week they write down book request for me to get when I go to the public library. They enjoy learning new facts about something and sharing them with me as well as the rest of the class. If a day goes by that I don't get to "sharing time," there are a lot of disappointed faces of students who were ready to teach the rest of the class a new interesting fact. My students are passionate about animals, animal rights, and saving the world. Despite the obstacles many of our families face, we still have a very caring community at our school and it shows in the character of all of the students that enter my classroom door.
