My students, while they all share a love for learning, are very different from one another. They bring different personalities, interests, strengths and struggles. I have students in my room who come to school hungry and eat goldfish or graham crackers (food from our snack cabinet) as they complete their morning journals. My students learn at different rates and in different ways. I firmly believe, however, that all children learn by being read aloud to while looking at the text being read. For some of my students, this is a part of their bedtime routine. Someone is there to read to/with them EVERY day. For others, this is not the case. Some of my students don't even own a single book. While I read aloud to my students daily, I can't give everyone a copy of the book to look at while I read. I want to make sure that EVERY one of my students has the opportunity to listen to and read along with a story.
