In 8th grade math, we do a lot of calculating! Students use formulas to calculate and find volumes of composite figures. They calculate the slope from two points. They also use the Pythagorean theorem to calculate the hypotenuse of a right triangle. We ask that parents provide calculators for their students to use at school and home, but many students, because of financial difficulty, cannot have a good calculator to use. I have a classroom set of calculators that we use during class, but many students do not have a calculator to use at home while completing homework. This project would allow me to have a library of calculators that students can borrow to use at home to complete their assignments. This project also provides pencils for student use. I'm also requesting a few games of Battleship to help students who struggle with the coordinate plane.
