Every student wakes up in the morning with a desire to have a "great" day. They want to be "smart" and successful in their academic learning and have fun at school through positive social experiences. Students with disabilities have these same desires. The disabilities create challenging barriers and the barriers create anxiety, stress and low self esteem in the students.
It is essential for them to learn the skills they need to believe in themselves to overcome barriers. The calming corner will be a place to learn social and academic skills to help their confidence grow.
