I want the students in the functional life skills classroom to build on the communication lessons they are getting and have their very own notebook of core words we have learned this year. They can use these in the class at any time and take these home and use them to create low tech sentences and communicate needs and wants. These notebooks will be used to store the students word picture symbol sheets and to be added on as we explore the meaning of new words and ideas during class lessons. The students like to play games and do functional skills activities. These activities are used to motivate the students to communicate and take turns with teachers and peers. The laminator will be used to create sentence strips and picture cards/sheets for each students notebook.
