I'm an Education Related Mental Health Counselor at a middle school and provide social-emotional support for students with emotional and behavioral needs. The students I work with are kind, caring, and charismatic. These students put one foot in front of the other as they walk through life’s obstacles and demonstrate their capability and resiliency.
The books, toys and games that I'm requesting will help to further encourage students to express their feelings in a safe and welcoming space. As adolescents, some students may not have fully developed their emotional vocabulary and such resources may assist in building their social-emotional repertoire and facilitate sharing their story in a manner that fits their unique needs. Some of the items (like the squishy toys, fidgets, art supplies) will be used as an incentive to motivate students to reach their counseling goals and participate in group therapy discussions.
I am so very grateful for any assistance that you may provide in helping to continue empowering and building up our students.
