Many of the youth cope in negative ways that either cause harm to themselves or to people around them. The arts and craft projects will give them an outlet to cope in a positive way that will also have a tangible beautiful outcome as the final product. Over the many years of working with many disadvantage youth, I learned that being able to have a physical coping mechanism can be more effective than having something that is intangible. Not only will they be able to do this in my presence, but they will have the supplies to take home and use the coping mechanisms outside of the safe space I provide.
