These items will aid us in creating a mindful place for students to escape when their educational environment becomes too much. Often times we find our students trapped in the same environment all day and they deserve an escape away from their educational environment to calm their emotions and feel free. Our students range from non-verbal to verbal and the sensory room is being planned in order to fulfill all their sensory needs while at school. All of the items included in this project will help a plethora of children for years to come. It’s often hard to complete such a costly project but with the help from donors like you, it is made possible!
The Westminster Prisma light and the Westminster Glacier multi-sensory fiber-optic light will be used in/around our current reading/calming tent and the reading canopy that is also on our list. The sensory aromatherapy bundle will be used in the sensory when the students with smelling sensory needs are utilizing the room. This aromatherapy will aid in calming their minds and getting them in a calmer state to gain the ability to re-enter their education environment for optimized learning. The floor tiles, sensory panel, and sensory floor will all be placed in the sensory room for students with physical sensory issues to interact with. The sensory tools, fidget sensory toys, and sensory discs will be utilized for the students with touching sensory needs. These items will be used in the sensory room and will be allowed to be loaned out to students in their regular education environment if they aides in their learning. The ooze tubes will be used for students with sight sensory issues to look at and watch whenever they need a break.
