Our school is an older building that is illuminated by fluorescent lights. In our K5 classrooms, there are 12 fluorescent lights that make our learning environment very bright and overwhelming for our diverse learners. Currently, there is no way of reducing the light in our classrooms without these covers. We have very few power outlets where we would be able to use alternative lighting. The fluorescent lights make our spaces overwhelming to students and staff. Studies show that by reducing the number of fluorescent lights, there is a positive effect on student behaviors and learning.
