This laptop would be used to replace an obsolete (13-year old) computer attached to a district-provided Smartboard projector. The Smartboard is used daily for instruction and activities in my classroom. Additionally, I use it to create videos that are posted to Canvas. When we went online in 2020 due to Covid, this technology was the primary means of creating and providing online instruction. The issue here is that the current dedicated laptop has an outdated 32-bit processor with a small amount of RAM which is neither fast nor robust. The Smartboard needs an upgraded laptop in order to keep running efficiently and securely.
