Students feel pride as they learn to play recorders! I've seen hundreds of happy students year after year as they felt pride in the accomplishment of learning to play songs for their family and friends! Not only are the students learning to play songs, but they learn to read musical notation in a fun and rewarding way. I've had students learn over 75 songs in a year. I want to give that pride to students at my new/current school.
This donation will give my students a quality musical instrument to call their own and they will learn to read music in a fun and rewarding way!
At my prior school in Idaho (I recently moved to Utah) I had a classroom set of recorders -over 250 recorders- that I washed year after year (and then students washed week after week). I don't have that available to me at my new school. My new school went several years without offering music and art to the students. In fact, most of the instruments that were in the previous music room were thrown away by a previous administrator. Even if I had a classroom set to wash, with the new COVID-19 rules, I wouldn't be able to use them. Each student needs a personal recorder.
I have struggled to teach music reading and theory in my classroom without the use of recorders! Please fund this project to help me give a quality musical education to my students! I've chosen 3rd and 4th grade students to receive the recorders hoping that they can bring them and use them again next school year in my classroom.
