Science is an important field of study, and one that is often overlooked when teaching kids coming from struggling economic and social situations. The need for science exploration is critical, especially for these students, who haven't had the same opportunities as others because of their living situation. Science opens up the world for kids, and what better way to teach science than with hands on projects.
With some of the supplies purchased students will understand the lifecycle of a butterfly by physically touching the models and recording the changes in real life butterflies, and understand the process of a plants growth by planting and monitoring the change of a seed they planted. These items will make science come alive for students.
