I have done literature circles in my classes for a few years and they generally get students excited about reading because they have more choice in what they can read. The main problem I have is that a lot of the books we have in sets at our skill are along the lines of older classics and we don't have many newer higher interest books. The books I have selected for literature circles are highly recommended newer books that students and teachers have found to be of high interest to today's students, so I feel that these books will help our students to engage more fully in reading.
