The materials I am requesting will assist me in building and implementing an effective literacy center in my classroom. I am asking for a crescent-shaped table that will allow me to sit close to my students during small group instruction.
I teach in a Structured Learning Classroom for students with special needs; therefore, small group instruction is necessary for learning important skills, as well as building positive teacher-student relationships.
I am also asking for various tools to assist with guided reading activities and small group literacy intervention. The items will help to strengthen my students' reading skills, which will give them the self confidence they need to become successful adults.
Education and literacy are vital in creating a meaningful life, not just for my students, but for all people. Everyone has the right to education. Literacy provides people with the opportunity to form educated opinions. This knowledge will guide my students in expressing their opinions and ideas in a way that others understand.
Literacy equals opportunity. I want to provided my students with the opportunity to learn to read successfully.
