The focus of my project is to improve the social and emotional well being of my students while continuing to improve their academic achievement.
Teaching self-regulation, identifying and responding appropriately to a variety of emotions, turn-taking and cooperative play are life skills and a prerequisite to academic learning.
Students will learn how to self-regulate with flexible seating, fidgets, and timers. They will use the social/emotional books and games to learn how to identify a variety of emotions and the appropriate ways to respond to those emotions. I have included a variety of learning games that involve turn taking and cooperative play so students can practice these skills while improving academic achievement. I have also included resources to improve critical thinking and basic academic skills so students will have a strong foundation to build on for years to come.
