We love having our students represent what they are learning through artistic expression. Art integration is such an important part of learning, but our school district does not offer art classes in the elementary schools, so it is placed into the hands of the regular education teachers to incorporate it into their everyday lessons without a budget to offer the materials needed. Combining art with academic subjects provides a higher level of learning and understanding. The art materials will go towards projects that will spark student interest and engage even the least motivated learner. This type of engagement can solidify the learning of new skills and assist in the mastery of critical 3rd grade standards. Students have spent countless hours in front of screens throughout this pandemic, so these artistic projects will provide more opportunities for creative expression.
To help our students learn amid the pandemic, we would like to offer a multitude of opportunities for them to be creative and innovative. Our students would love to create and or design multiple projects that demonstrate their understanding of academic standards. An example would be designing posters to demonstrate their understanding of the Five Civilized Tribes. To bring our dream learning activities to life, we would love to get a variety art supplies such as pipe cleaners, canvases, sharpie pens, poster paper, and several other items that can be utilized to show comprehension of core subjects through artistic expression.
