Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times students will be able choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students have average chairs for sitting. My classroom does not offer any alternatives for seating.
Ensuring students comfort in the classroom is an essential motivator for learning. Right now, I see them wiggle and bounce around in discomfort. This is distracting for them and the class. I would like to offer my students more seating options to encourage engagement.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given an opportunity to move their body in a more anatomical mode.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The stability balls will still allow some movement while not disrupting the class. They will be beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The comfy floor beanbag chair will allow for an additional comfortable floor seating option. The rug can be used to sit on and bring warmth to the seating corner.
There is a lot of research that shows how alternative seating choices positively affect students work and demeanor, and I hope that the additional options will help my class grow more.
