In art class the sharing of materials has been an issue due to Covid-19. We’ve been limited by social distancing restrictions and guidelines around keeping groups of students separated. Art class provides a natural place for social and emotional learning because of the focus on collaboration, empathy and emotional expression. I want to be able to give my students the supplies to use and explore that they may not have available at home. A lot of the kids I teach come from low income households and do not even have crayons at home to color with. So when they come to school I want to be able to give them the opportunity of using a variety of supplies.
